Sony India’s CSR Initiative ‘Sony Gyan Setu’ Celebrates Youth Skill Development, Employment and Career Progress in Jaipur
Jaipur, October 5, 2026: Sony India, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative ‘Sony Gyan Setu’, reiterated its commitment to creating meaningful livelihood opportunities for young people through industry-aligned skill development and employment-focused initiatives at the Sony Gyan Setu Multi-Skill Centre in Jaipur.
Established in partnership with Cadman Skilled India Foundation and Poornima Group of Colleges, the centre organised “Srijan: The Journey Ahead – Alumni Connect”, bringing together alumni, current trainees, the centre team and invited guests to celebrate achievements, strengthen alumni engagement and inspire young people to pursue sustainable career pathways.
The programme witnessed the participation of 221 alumni, who had completed skill training in the retail, healthcare, and beauty & wellness sectors during FY 2025-26 and subsequently secured employment. Their participation provided current trainees with an opportunity to learn from real-world experiences, workplace journeys and career achievements, highlighting the practical outcomes that can be achieved through the right combination of skills, counselling and employment support.
Sanjay Bhatnagar, Vice President, CHRO and National Head – CSR, Sony India, said, “At Sony India, we believe that meaningful skill development is most effective when it is closely connected to real employment opportunities and long-term career progression. The Sony Gyan Setu initiative brings together training, industry exposure, counselling and placement support on one platform to help young people navigate a changing environment. It is particularly fulfilling to see our alumni share their workplace experiences with current trainees. This reinforces the importance of building an ecosystem where skills can translate into livelihoods and create pathways for continuous career growth.”
Rahul Singhi, Co-founder, Director and Managing Director, Poornima University, said, “Skill development becomes truly meaningful when it enables young people to take their next step towards employment with confidence and build sustainable careers. We are pleased to be associated with the Sony Gyan Setu programme, which is creating an ecosystem that brings together industry-relevant training, mentorship and employment opportunities. The Alumni Connect programme demonstrates the impact of this approach, with trained youth returning to share their experiences and inspire those who are beginning their journey. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and creating more avenues for young people to learn, grow and progress.”
Expanding Skills for New Employment Opportunities
As part of the next phase of the centre’s development, skill training in retail, healthcare, and beauty & wellness was expanded during FY 2026-27. In addition, new training programmes in apparel and Self-Employed Tailor (SET) have also been introduced.
In the first batch of the current financial year, 103 trainees successfully completed their training and secured employment across various skill-linked programmes. During the closing ceremony of the event, certificates were presented to the successful trainees, marking an important milestone in their journey from training to the workplace.
Sony India’s CSR approach under ‘Sony Gyan Setu’ goes beyond the number of individuals trained and focuses on connecting young people with broader employment opportunities. The centre provides trainees with career counselling, industry-aligned training, assessments, employment assistance and guidance based on their individual interests and career aspirations.
Building a Stronger Link from Skills to Livelihoods
The ‘Alumni Connect’ programme has been designed not merely as a celebration, but also as a platform to maintain continued engagement with beneficiaries after training. Interactions with alumni give current trainees insights into real workplace experiences and help build a community where learning, employment experiences and career growth can be shared.
The initiative highlights Sony India’s broader CSR commitment to creating opportunities that contribute to young people’s employability, economic participation and sustainable livelihoods over the long term. The Sony Gyan Setu programme aims to bring together the corporate CSR vision, skilled implementation partners and institutional ecosystems to create a structured pathway—from acquiring new skills to securing employment and progressing continuously in one’s career.
Nisha Bairwa, a beneficiary of the programme, said, “The training at Sony Gyan Setu gave me the skills and confidence I needed to build my career and become self-reliant. Today, I am working as a General Duty Assistant at Bombay Hospital, which enables me to support my family and move closer to fulfilling my parents’ dreams. I am grateful to Sony India, the Poornima University team, the Cadman team, my trainers and my family for supporting me throughout this journey. My experience has taught me that with the right opportunity and determination, every dream can become a reality.”
Another beneficiary, Mehmish Bano, said, “Sony Gyan Setu gave me the confidence and skills to pursue my dreams and become self-reliant. Today, I am working as a Beauty Advisor at Westside. I am now able to manage my own expenses and also support my family. I thank Sony India, Cadman and Poornima University for giving me the opportunity to build my career and move towards a more independent future.”
The event concluded by reiterating the shared commitment of Sony India, Cadman Skilled India Foundation and Poornima Group of Colleges towards expanding skill development and employment opportunities for young people.
Thus, “Srijan: The Journey Ahead – Alumni Connect” served as a platform to celebrate progress while looking ahead to the journey ahead. By connecting trained alumni with current trainees, the programme strengthened their confidence that the right skill development can open pathways to employment, dignity and improved economic opportunities.
