Metal and Material Experts to Gather at MNIT Today
Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, is organizing a one-day seminar today on the theme “Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration through the Indian Institute of Metals.” The seminar brings together academicians, industry experts, researchers, and students on a single platform to discuss various aspects of fostering collaboration between the industry and educational institutions in the fields of metallurgy and materials science.
Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), and President of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Senior scientists and experts from BARC, NFC, and leading academic institutions such as MNIT Jaipur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Jodhpur will also be present.
This seminar is being organized as a curtain-raiser event for the 80th Annual Technical Meeting (IIM ATM 2026) of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM). The IIM ATM 2026 is scheduled to be held from December 10 to 12, 2026, at the Birla Auditorium in Jaipur. It is a premier technical conference in the country dedicated to the fields of materials and metallurgy.
The upcoming IIM ATM 2026 is expected to attract over 1,500 participants—including scientists, engineers, academicians, researchers, industry representatives, and students—from across the country and abroad. This grand three-day conference will cover a wide range of contemporary and significant topics. An international symposium on “Materials for Sustainable Green and Nuclear Energy Applications” will be held on the first day, followed by the Annual Technical Meeting over the next two days. With the active participation of major industries—as well as small, medium, and large-scale enterprises—from Jaipur and its surrounding regions, this event is poised to become a significant national platform for dialogue and collaboration between industry and academia.
The one-day symposium scheduled for September 26, 2026, marks a crucial milestone in the preparations for IIM ATM 2026. It will lay the groundwork for a comprehensive national-level dialogue regarding the future of India’s metals and materials sector, the potential for research and innovation, and long-term collaboration between industry and the academic community.
