Webinar on ‘Nehruvian Economic Model: A Contemporary Analysis’

Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies (CJNS) Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a webinar on June 10, 2022 on the topic ‘Nehruvian Economic Model: A Contemporary Analysis’. Prof. Amit Kumar Rai, who is the Dean, IIMT College of Management, Chaudhary Charan Singh University delivered a talk on the above topic.The Programme started with Professor Indu Virendra, Director, Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies welcoming everyone and acknowledging the support of the higher authorities for promoting academic excellence in the university.

Prof. Indu Virendra apprised the audience about the academic activities of the Centre. She welcomed the Dean, Social Sciences Prof. Ravinder Kumar, and the Speaker Prof. Amit Kumar Rai, the Dignitaries, Research Scholars and fellow colleagues. She introduced the Speaker to the audience and invited the Dean, Prof. Ravinder Kumar for his insightful comments on the subject matter. Prof. Ravinder Kumar was delighted to be associated with the webinar initiated by the Centre and congratulated the Director, CJNS for organizing the first webinar in her Directorship. The Dean welcomed the Speaker Prof. Amit Kumar Rai and praised the topic of the webinar immensely.

The Dean welcomed the Faculty of CJNS, Prof. Velayutham Saravanan and Dr. Etee Bahadur.Prof. Amit Kumar Rai, in the first part of his lecture, spoke on the challenges that were faced by the India and the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru post 1947. Prof. Rai, in the second part of the talk focused on the Nehruvian economy and made an evaluation based on the contemporary global reality.

The speaker also then invited questions from the participants.The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Director Prof. Indu Virendra. She also thanked to organizing team, the volunteers, the students, Research Scholars, faculty members of JMI and other institutions. The Director also thanked all the participants for making the webinar a huge success.
