Golden Hour Intervention at Fortis Escorts Jaipur Saves Unconscious, Unidentified Stroke Patient

Jaipur, 14 July, 2026: In a remarkable example of compassion, humanity, and timely medical intervention, doctors at Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur saved the life of an unconscious and unidentified elderly man who was brought to the hospital by a group of Good Samaritans along with police personnel. With no information about his identity, family, or medical history available at the time of admission, the medical team chose to prioritise urgent treatment over procedural formalities, ensuring immediate care and preventing a potentially life-threatening situation from turning fatal.

The patient, a 70-year-old-man, had been found lying unconscious near the Jawahar Circle area of Jaipur by some police officers and concerned bystanders. Recognising the urgency of the situation, they immediately rushed him to Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur. Upon arrival, he was admitted under the care of a team of doctors, led by Dr. Neetu Ramrakhiyani, Director, Neurology, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur. Prompt clinical evaluation, brain imaging, and other investigations revealed that he had suffered an Ischemic Stroke. The hospital’s emergency and neurology teams immediately activated the hospital’s “Stroke Code”, a rapid-response protocol designed specifically for situations where every minute lost can lead to irreversible brain damage.

The neurology team administered Intravenous thrombolysis without delay. The patient gradually started regaining consciousness, showed signs of recovery, and was able to recall and share the contact details of his family members, who were then informed of the incident. He was discharged in stable condition in three days.

This case stands out not just as a medical success, but as an instance where police alertness, bystander compassion, and hospital preparedness came together when it mattered the most. Despite having no information about the patient, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur did not wait for his identification and immediately delivered the treatment, saving a life.

Dr. Neetu Ramrakhiyani, Director, Neurology, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur , said, “‘Time is Brain’ in stroke management is not just a slogan, it is a scientific truth. Every minute of delay can cause permanent damage to millions of brain cells. What worked in this patient’s favour was that he was brought to the hospital in time and thrombolysis was administered within the golden hour. His neurological condition improved so significantly that he was able to tell us who he was and help us reach his family. That, for us, was the real breakthrough moment.”

Dr. Manish Kumar Agarwal, Director, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur , said, “In an emergency, the first and only priority is to save the patient’s life, everything else comes after. We had no name, no family, no medical records. But our emergency and neurology teams did not hesitate for a second. This was possible because of the quick action taken by the police personnel and bystanders who brought him in, the alertness of our emergency team, and the clinical evaluation of our stroke specialists.”

“I urge the public to learn and remember the warning signs of a stroke, which can include a distorted face, weakness or numbness in the arms or legs, difficulty speaking or understanding, sudden loss of balance, or loss of consciousness. Recognising these signs and acting fast can save a life,” he said.
