The counting of votes to determine the fate of over 8,000 candidates vying for 542 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 general elections began at 8 AM. According to the Election Commission of India, a record-breaking 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participated in this massive electoral exercise, which was overseen by 68,000 monitoring teams and 1.5 crore polling and security personnel.
