Star Health Pays ₹1,370 Crore+ in Claims to Support 51.50 Lakh+ Lives across Rajasthan since Inception
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited (NSE: STARHEALTH, BSE: 543412), India’s leading standalone health insurer, today reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening health protection across Rajasthan as it marks 20 years of its journey in India. Since inception, the company has paid more than 2,77,800 claims worth over ₹1,370 crore in Rajasthan and provided health insurance coverage to more than 51.50 lakh lives, reflecting its growing presence and continued support for individuals and families across the state.
Rajasthan has made significant progress in expanding health insurance coverage. According to NFHS-5, 87.8% of households in the state had at least one member covered under a health insurance or financing scheme, a significant increase from 18.7% reported in NFHS-4. However, healthcare-related financial burden remains a concern, with out-of-pocket expenditure accounting for 37.1% of Rajasthan’s total health expenditure in 2021-22. This underscores the continued need for comprehensive health insurance that can provide families with greater financial protection against healthcare expenses.
Star Health’s presence in Rajasthan continues to grow. During FY26, the company paid more than 43,000 claims worth ₹240 crore and provided health insurance coverage to over 5 lakh lives. In Q1 FY27, the company recorded ₹87 crore+ in GWP, issued more than 37,000 policies, covered over 1 lakh lives, and paid more than 14,300 claims worth ₹68 crore.
Deepening Reach across Rajasthan
Star Health’s presence extends across the state’s urban and emerging markets, with a network spanning 27 districts, more than 40 branches and 4 Gramin Bima Kendras, supported by over 20,680 advisors. This on-ground network enables the company to take health insurance and customer support closer to communities across Rajasthan.
As part of its 20-year journey, Star Health is also expanding its role beyond traditional insurance through services such as Talk to Star, which enables customers to access virtual doctor consultations and guidance on healthcare options, including Home Healthcare and planned hospitalisation.

Expanding Healthcare Access beyond Insurance
Through Talk to Star, customers can access virtual doctor consultations and guidance on the appropriate next course of treatment, including Home Healthcare and planned hospitalisation. The service is available through the Star Health app, while customers can also call 7200 222 333 between 8 am and 8 pm for assistance.
Star Health’s Home Healthcare service enables eligible policyholders to access clinically appropriate treatment at home through a cashless arrangement for conditions that can be safely managed outside a hospital. Available across 300 cities, the service delivered close to 50,000 consultations in Q1 FY27, with utilisation growing around 600% year-on-year during the quarter.
Technology Enabling a Faster Claims Experience
Technology continues to enable a faster and seamless customer journey. Star Health has invested nearly ₹200 crore in technology transformation initiatives, with almost 90% of proposals processed digitally.
The company has also enabled AI-driven straight-through processing for routine cashless claims, with AI currently processing around 20% of cashless claims. Nationally, 92% of cashless claims are processed in less than three hours, while Star Health processes more than 10,000 claims every day.
With approximately 29% share of India’s retail health insurance market in Q1 FY27, Star Health continues to strengthen its role as a health partner, combining insurance protection with preventive, digital and home-based healthcare services.
