Jaipur, February 28, 2023: The Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, one of the oldest NITs in India, recognized the efforts of its 1976 batch alumni who initiated ‘I³ ‘ to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia. Today Industry needs Institute as much as Institute needs industry. The felicitation ceremony took place during the Industry-Academia interaction program I3 hosted by MNIT Jaipur.

Suresh Roy, an MNIT Jaipur alumnus from the 1976 batch, was present at the event and expressed his gratitude towards his alma mater. He said, “MNIT Jaipur has always been a beautiful campus and a right platform of talent pool for many global and national companies. The outstanding professors bring varied sector experience who are transforming students into fine engineers. Since global economies are marching towards challenging times, our Institute requires Industry support for inculcating the new pool of talents. Core members of I3 has strategized the four phases of addressing this challenge – Interaction, Collaboration, Partnership and Knowledge Sharing.”

He further added, “The visionary Dr. R. K. Tyagi, Chairman of MNIT Jaipur and Prof. NP Padhy, Director of MNIT Jaipur are pivoting the institute to the progressive direction in a way to match the new tech world that world demands. We, alumni are in full support to them for providing the industry relation interface for making the fresh graduates more skillful and industry ready.”

Suresh Roy, one of the pioneers to start OMEK, the disk drive manufacturing in the US, worked at Comport and set up the first disk drive line at Samsung, Korea. The same project generated $2 billion in revenue. Suresh Roy was also awarded the Yield Improvement Awards – Fibre Optics by Cisco, resulting in millions of dollars savings for the company. He was also recognized for the LEAN project initiative by reducing test time at Keysight and was involved in the startup of EV at CMW.

With his batch mates, Roy initiated ‘I³’ with the goal of bringing industry and institute closer. MNIT Jaipur has an alumni network that extends globally to almost all countries, making a mark on global engineering trends.

MNIT Jaipur is ranked 46th nationally in the NIRF ranking-2022 and has a rich heritage of sixty years producing world-class engineers, managers, architects, and scientists. The institute offers learning opportunities for undergraduate, postgraduate students, and researchers in various domains. MNIT Jaipur stands at the second position among all NITs based on opening all India admission ranks in 2021-22 and is always among the top five NITs based on average all India admission ranks.

The students develop domain knowledge and skills during their courses of study, making them the most sought-after people for placement. The initiative taken by the 1976 batch alumni will help bridge the gap between industry and academia and pave the way for better collaboration and growth.
